Arrival and Registration

 

You'll arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. You'll meet your climbing team, have a briefing, and complete any necessary paperwork.

Day 1:

Machame Gate (1,800m/5,905ft) to Machame Camp (3,010m/9,875ft)

After breakfast, you'll drive to the Machame Gate, which serves as the starting point of the climb.
From the gate, you'll hike through the rainforest, gradually ascending to Machame Camp.

Day 3:

Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,840 m/12,600 ft)

 

Today's hike will take you through moorland and heath, gradually gaining altitude.
You'll pass through the Shira Plateau and eventually reach Shira Camp, where you'll spend the night.

Day 4:

Shira Camp to Barranco Camp (3,950 m/12,960 ft)

The route will take you east towards the Lava Tower, at an altitude of 4,600 m (15,100 ft), for acclimatisation purposes.
Afterward, you'll descend to Barranco Camp, situated in a beautiful valley.

Day 5:

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,035 m/13,200 ft)

Today's trek involves some challenging sections, including the famous Barranco Wall.
You'll climb up the wall using established trails and then hike across ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp.

Day 6:

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,600 m/15,100 ft)

The trail continues upward, passing through alpine desert terrain.
You'll reach Barafu Camp, your final campsite before the summit attempt.
In the evening, you'll rest and prepare for the summit push.

Day 7:

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m/19,341 ft) and Mweka Camp (3,100 m/10,170 ft)

You'll start the summit attempt at midnight, hiking in the darkness with headlamps.
Climbing through steep sections, you'll reach Stella Point (5,756 m/18,885 ft) on the crater rim.
From there, it's a relatively flat walk to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
After enjoying the summit, you'll descend to Mweka Camp, where you'll spend the night.

Day 8:

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640 m/5,380 ft)

On the final day, you'll continue the descent through the rainforest, reaching Mweka Gate.
At the gate, you'll receive your summit certificates and say goodbye to your climbing team.
From there, you'll transfer back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha to celebrate your achievement.
