Day 1:

Arusha – Momella Gate 1500 m – Miriakamba Hut (2,500 m)

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge or hotel in Arusha, you will drive to the fist gate.

at the Tanzania National Park (TANAPA) office, porters and cooks will be organizing, packing, and weighing all that is needed for this hike.

You will possibly have your packed lunch at the gate before starting.

Afterward, you will start climbing Mt. Meru. The first day is more or less similar to a walking safari;

on the way, you should anticipate spotting some giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and buffaloes.

Since there is a high possibility of spotting wildlife, you will be escorted by an armed ranger hired through TANAPA.

On the way, you will pass the Ngarenanyuki River, and if you take the short cut, you will pass by a beautiful waterfall at the foot of Mt. Meru. 

Late in the afternoon, you will arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2,500 m), where your chef will prepare some coffee or tea and then hot water to wash your clothes.

Day 2:

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle

After breakfast, you will start your climb up Mount Meru on a steep path along the forest zone. Various wildlife can be seen along the way.

Normally, at this early stage of Kilimanjaro, the complete cliffs of the Crater drop intensely at nearly 1000 feet or more.

After spending some time at the summit, return back to Saddle Hut for some leisurely brunch, and afterward continue downward to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 4:

Day 4: Miriakamba to Momella Gate to Arusha

Your climb to Mount Meru is now coming to an end. After some rest and a leisurely breakfast, begin your way down to Momella Gate.

At the gate, you will meet your driver, who is already there waiting for you. After saying a farewell and tipping your crew, you will drive back to Arusha.
